Radio Appeal to restore Vehicle Maintenance Course

Clubmoor Resident Gill Beesley and Cllr Steve Radford appeared on Radio Merseyside (Tuesday 13th April) with Roger Phillips to protest at the closure of the Bankfield College Vehicle Maintenance Course, which is one of the most popular courses having run for over ten years.

Adult Education Officials made the decision as working out new insurnace arrangements was too onerous so it was easier to close the course, not that they thought of writing to the students.

Cllr Steve Radford challenged why such courses could be run by colleges in Bootle and St Helens but not Liverpool

Surprise surprise two weeks later we are still awaiting an answer.

Liberal Party Cllr Chris Lenton has now tabled the issue for debate at the next Education Committtee

Gill Beesley, on behalf of her fellow students, described how invalaueble the course was in both reducing living costs and increasing job opportunities to many local people

Housing Forum Feedback

At the Tenants forum held at the Devonshire Hotel, Tuesday 6th April Cllr Steve Radford hit out at the lack of co-ordinated effort to advertise the recent series of tenants meeting, whilst at the same time endless city council magazines rehash photo's of Lib Dem Councillors

The 6 or so tenants who did turn up felT calling an evening meeting at 6.00 was designed for failure.

Cllr Steve Radford agreed to take up tenants concerns over long term vacants not being used to help tenants to decant from the Boot Estate

He suggested that the council needs to enable tenants transfer between the Council and Housing Associations ,without loss of council purchase discount
