North East No Campaign appeals for support - Fancy a protest day in Durham 30th Oct ?

If you recognise the plans for a North East Assembly are not devolution but a back door mechanism to put B list polticians on the payroll .

An assembly with little powers and no extra cash !

Come and join the demonstration in Durham City, Saturday 30th October, provisionally 10.00 - 12.00

How could an assembly member really represent 100,000 voters ?

Did you hear the jock about PR, Two thirds of the seats are to be elected by first past the post?

Call that PR !

Whose fooling who?

Only the daft Lib Democrats have fallen for this shame - bless the little dears

Townsend Lane  and Tuebrook Communities appeal for extra alleygates

Residents in the Lampeter , Claude, Empress Road area have asked for additional alleygates to close the entries between them and the newly erected fencing around Breckside Rec.

Cllr Steve Radford meeting the committee last Monday night has put the request to the city council community safety team along with a similar request by Brainerd and Sutton Street residents asking for gates to close the rear of commercial properties on Green Lane

Across the district house breakins have dropped by over half due to the alleygating scheme

Do you have an entry that needs alleygating ?

Let your Liberal Party team know at northwestliberalparty@hotmail.com

Liberals Lead fight to free councillors from speaking up for their communities

Would you believe that councillors who lead public campaigns to save parks and open spaces or fight to prevent the demolition of historic buildings could be thrown out of office for voting and speaking at Planning Committees because they have a personal interest !

That's why many people stand for council because they have a real interest !!

Could someone explain that to the Double Standards Board ?

The Standards Board have already taken action against local councillors along these lines

Today councillors are having their freedom of speech restricted and duty to represent their communities undermined

Cllr Steve Radford told the Liberal Party Assembly that councillors were being tied up by rules that MP's would never tolerate for themselves

The Liberal Party have tabled this issue for debate at the city council 20th October and are urging councillors throughout the country to do likewise

Waste Land - Clifton Arms being left due to council negligence

At the city council on 20th Oct Liberal Party Cllr Chris Lenton has tabled a motion asking the council to explain why a private building bid to redevelop waste land around the Clifton Arms Pub, Tuebrook has been ignored

Every year thousands of tax payers money is wasted on clearing waste land sites when private developers are willing to put these sites into social use.

Have you got a waste land site near you that should be put to use let us know

Tuebrook Needs a Childrens Centre

Once again Liberal Party Councillors are demanding that the area of Tuebrook deserves a Childrens Centre.

At first the Lib Democrats suggested that centres should not be community focussed as they facilitate individual parents

Now they are argueing that a childrens centre in the Lister Drive area would be too close to the centre at Corinthian Avenue. Its frightening how this Lib Dem Council takes government money for initiatives for deprived neighbourhoods and then redirects it to politically opportune wards, what do our limp Labour MP's have to say on this ?????

Councillors demand Freedom to Speak for their Residents

At the city Council 20th October the Liberal Party are urging all councils gather together to force the government to change the rules on declaring interests in planning matters.

The Liberal Party  Assembly endorsed the view that councillors should refrain from voting if they or their immediate family have a financial interest.

However if councillors have campaigned on planning issues or have discusssed local plans with builders and local people they should not be prevented from representing their residents. The current rules from the standards board prevent honest councillors keeping their election pledges in an open fashion.

Tynwald Hill Petition gathers pace

For over 6 years Liberals have sought to get the council to CPO waste land at the end of Tynwald Hill, having finally listened to the people this daft Democrat Council then planned to sell the land to a housing developer who wanted the site for flats.

That may sound good ,unless you live in the Stoneycroft area which already has a horrendous excess of flats going vacant, The Liberal Party are demanding that family homes be built here to regenerate the area ,not just act as a cash plan for this short sighted council

The Liberal Party has forced the issue to be debated at the Resources Committee 21st Oct at 5.00 in Millenium House

This is open to the public. If you can't attend please send your objections in to northwestliberalparty@hotmail.com or write to us at 41 Sutton Street, Tuebrook L13 7EG

Townsend Lane Traffic Nightmare Rejected

Plans to build 87 houses at the back of Pennsylvania Road , on the Marlborough Railway Embankment were rejected after a consistent campaign by the Liberal Party Team. The worst aspect of this plan was that over 6 months 80,000 tons of rubble would have been moved by HGV vehicles crossing right into Townsend Lane where the road narrows from a dual carriageway to single lanes and the vision would be obscured by the Railway Line

Clubmoors last daft democrat Cllr backed the plan but the residents chucked it out at the local elections

Right to Buy Delays in Liverpool

Liberal Party Councillor Steve Radford is urging officers take steps to build up the current strength of the Right to Buy Unit in light of the take off in Right to Buy Delays in Liverpool applications

Last year approximately 800 right to buy applications were progressed currently 2,600 are expected this year

Clearly tenants have got the message that the Housing market has taken off and  that the council is abandoning council tenants with massive stock transfers pending.

Tenants who have been subject to excessive delays can apply form TRB 6, this puts the council on 28 days notice to expedite matters,. failure to do so within 28 days can enable the tenant serve form TRB 8 and potentially claim rent free from that date

If you have been subject to excessive delays please e mail us at northwestliberalparty@hotmail.com

Liberal Party Councillors have provisionally welcomed the most recent application to build and redevelop the current Orphan Hospital site in Newsham Park

Key elements include that the developers have varied from initial plans for a modernist new build enveloping the historic site and are now proposing a more traditional style frontage in keeping with the park

A second concern that has been met is that the Bowling Green will remain open space and an essential part of the park

The application will be considered at the next Area Committee

Townsend Lane/Anfield Progress

Members of the Anfield Youth Club Board have been told that the council will be seeking to erect a perimeter fence around the Breckside Recreation ground , this will close entrances onto the fields at Lampeter, Empress and Claude Roads

Liberal Party Councillor Steve Radford welcomed this as improving security throughout the area

In addition the council,is exploring an access road to be built from ower Breck Road to outside the club. Cllr Steve Radford had been argueing that residents in Clarendon, Suburban, Waltham and Winchester Roads deserved measures to reduce speeding traffic
