Following the shock news that 2 out of 12 jurors appeared to accept that Michael Causer attacked the guys who dealt punches, kicks and a fatal blow to hin, Cllr Steve Radford spoke up for the family of Michael causer and hundreds of gay and lesbians across merseyside horrified at the verdict. Reported in the Daily Post, whilst Steve Radford is not the only gay councillour in the city he was the only councillour to attend and speak at the cities LGBT special meeting in response to the verdict: ><http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/liverpool-news/regional-news/2009/02/25/>Feb >25 2009 <http://beta.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/>Liverpool Daily Post At the Forum Cllr Steve Radford pledged that the Liberal Party would lobby for a review of the case and felt an Inquirty was needed just as the Stepehen Lawrence case had led to a puPlic Inquiry in response to the anger and legitimate resentment of London's Black community > author: Steve | 02/25/09 23:40 | comments Cllr Steve Radford questions lack of press profile for Michael Causer murder
Steve Radford has contributed to a major feature in the Independent 24th Feb and has highlighted levels of homophobia in Merseyside and the lack of press coverage of this murder reinforces those attitiudes,m he is quoted below: "Steve Radford, of the Liberal Party, who has been on the city council for three decades and has campaigned for the Gay Village, is saddened that Mr Causer’s death has failed to generate the same sense of nationwide outrage as that of the black teenager Anthony Walker, who was killed in a racist attack as he crossed a park in Huyton in 2005. Though hundreds crammed into the church for Mr Causer’s funeral, and thousands more signed books of condolence, campaigners including Mark Feehily from Michael’s favourite band Westlife, are angry that no one seems to be listening. “It does make you question our social values. We had a lot of positive comments made about the family of Anthony Walker, but here we had a tragedy which is homophobic but it is the word which will not speak its name" . author: Steve | 02/25/09 12:04 | comments Monday, February 23, 2009 Local Credit Unions

Dear Friends
Many people, not just parents, have been extremely distressed at prospect that 24 school crossings would loose their lollipop patrols all day or even just lunchtimes At the city council draft budget debate you will know where we in The Liberal Party urged savings been made from excessive layers of management and excessive pay-offs to people at senior levels At this part of the budget both Cllr Hazel Williams and myself made an impassioned plea to save these three local crossing , I suggested that "it was right for the publicity budget to take a hit rather than our children take a hit". At the conclusion of debate Cllr Warren Bradley took the lead from Cllr Clucas and said he would convene a meeting with the service heads and review this element of the budget the very next day This afternoon I had a cordial telephone conversation with Cllr Bradley who confirmed robustly that these lollipop services would not be cut and he was to issue a public statement to the press tonight to that effect I am sure we are all pleased commonsense has won the day Cllr Steve Radford author: Steve | 02/02/09 22:31 | comments Your local Ward Community matteres Meetings are as follows:
