Social Services Clients to be given Advocacy Guidance within appeal process...

At the Social Care and Health Committee on 23rd October Cllr Steve Radford asked that all social services clients being assessed as part of the Community Care Service Provision assessment be given standard documentation whereby their appeal rights are spelled out with the details of advocacy services and groups who can assist them

"We have to accept, however well trained and well intended our own staff are, many clients will wish to question their assessment. Just as we recommend employees use the trade union representatives we should positively encourage social services clients utilise advocates from the user/voluntary groups. This will at the end of the day improve consistency and equity". Members agreed with Cllr Radford's proposal and agreed it ibe implemented straight away.
