Chief Executive invited to inspect 5 years of Neglect !!

At the City Council meeting Cllr Hazel Williams pointed out that shortly after David Henshaw took office, he did a tour of the Tuebrook Ward and she pointed out some of the major problems.

With the exception of a massive alleygating programme the progress points sheet was grossly disappointing

Muirhead Avenue - Treble the number of derelict and Vacant Flats than 5 years ago

Suburban Road - More burnt out and vacant flats than ever

Waste Land around Clifton Arms - Still a dumping site. progress made by local councillors trying to market the site despite the council

Waste Land at Breckside Park - still vacant but at least now an active interest by Barretts

General Street Cleaning appalling, the council have failed to carry out any prosecution of those responsible for dumping

Cllr Hazel Williams invited Mr Henshaw to revisit theTuebrook and surrounding areas to see the lack of progress and blatant neglect first hand

Meanwhile in the Housing Debate, Cllr Steve Radford pointed out that the Lib Dems had closed Local Housing Offices at the same time Liverpool Direct were taking calls from residents who were then told they did not know who to put the call through to.

No wonder the call centres are so busy residents are having to phone several times to get a none answer

Cllr Radford suggested Liverpool Direct be renamed Liverpool Misdirect

He went onto to condem the council for spending an hour and more debateing Post Ofices, which they could little influence, whilst at the same time only gave 10 minutes to discuss a council programme to hand over all council housing to Housing Associations, knowing  full well that the Housing Assocations lacked both the finance and labour manpower and skills to carry out the urgent work needed

He said councilors who endlesly  debated National Policy but rode roughshot over local housing policy and cissues did not deserve to hold office.

The Lib Dem majority voted not to have a special  and proper housing debate next week but vote the matter through
