Lib Dems Block debate on Homophobic Bullying in Schools but opt to debate Elgin Mables

At the city Council (Wednesday 10th March) the Lib Dem Group rejected debating the call for an investigation into the extent and monitoring of steps to prevent homophobic bullying in Liverpool Schools.

Instead they allocated time to debate the return of the Elgin Marbles from London to Athens

Cllr Chris Lenton summed up " I feel frustrated that so much city council time is put to debate Westminster affairs whilst my constituents suffer failing street cleansing, increased numbers of derelict council proerties and a housing benefit system in chaos"

Cllr Steve Radford added "Nationally the Lib Dems proclaim their support for equality for Lesbians and Gaysin reality their support is only as sincere as the number of votes they think they may gain in any particular locality, in Liverpool our Lib Dems have consistently sought to block any debate on any LGBT issues.
