Community Engagement Meeting - Future Tuebrook
- Future of Carlton Cinema and former Venue Site, Green Lane, Tuebrook
5.00 at The Hope Centre , Snaefell Ave - Thursday 21st June
Following an extensive campaign led by the Liberal Party, local residents overturned the council and government policy to block Housing Development at the Green Lane site of the former Venue Nightclub
Whilst we were disappointed redevelopment did not immediately follow, no doubt the granting of planning approval has encouraged the new owners to look at options for both the Venue and Carlton Cinema
They are looking at plans to put at ground level a significant retail unit with approx 120 apartments above.
On site parking should cater for 75% car to apartment ratio's.
The site owners are also planning for an on-site gym to encourage large numbers of professional and young people ,who may not want to pay city centre rents, to move in. Approximately 75% apartments will be two bed rooms and 25% single bed.
Of course this site is ideal for excellent frequent bus routes to the city centre ,10-15 minutes drive away, with a traditional community shopping centre on the doorstep. Popular single sex schools at Holly Lodge and West Derby Boys reflect the communities fierce defense of good schools against past reorganisations
This is the second community engagement meeting prior to formal application being made
This is another positive outcome of The Liberal Party's positive reputation of working with commercial development companies and the local community to improve housing , retail and community facilities
