Liberals give support to Toxteth DISC
Liberal Party Leader Steve Radford attended a public meeting by students and teachers concerned with future of adult education in Liverpool ,due to the shift in funding to under 25 age group.
At the meeting Cllr Radford advised students to utilise the right to petition the city council to as a way to seek publicity
The Liberal Party has also been in touch with students from the DISC Centre under threat in Toxteth, these are a few of the ponts they make concerning the centre and its courses:
Of current excess of hundred students approx 70 % are over 19 years old
Most of current students because of disability , transport and parenting duties would be unable to relocate to Bankfield Site, which already has congestion problems
Many of city centre courses in the city centre do not provide equivalent courses during day time
Liberal Party Councillors have tabled a motion to the city council trying to gather support the Toxteth DISC and its students in one of the most disadvantaged communities in Liverpool
