Ref Outline Planning Application 16 - 22 Glamis Road

We felt it important to alert you to a current outline planning application for 16 - 22 Glamis Road, Tuiebrook. This site you may appreciate we have worked to use our limited building control and environmental health powers to encourage its clearance and development

It is with a heavy heart we need to explain why we are unable to support the current outline planning application for eleven flats

Firstly an outline plan its not a serious intent or detailed plan but merely a sketch to see if the concept has potential for approval

Throughout tuebrook it is the areas of high density cheap flats which attract high levels of long term vacants, anti social behaviour and vandalism. Just look at the problems we have in Marlborough Road, Buckingham Road and Windsor Road. We have for years been trying to turn this situation around rather than add to it

It is not just older properties with high density flats that bring excessive problems, even the relatively new build flats at New Road Court have been a disaster.

We believe the site has the viable size to provide an economic investment for family homes. So we have written to the planers opposing the application

Of course you all as residents are entitled to write in supporting or objecting to the plans as you see fit.

In contrast you will be pleased with our support a complex for tow major shops and 80 apartments has been approved for the Carlton Venue Site, Green Lane,. here we believe the size of site and immediate access to public transport , plus the sixe of apartments will attract a stable development

Lastly we wish to thank everyone who has helped to deliver invisible marker pens and light timers as part of our Tuebrook beat the burglar Campaign , so far we have distributed kits to 3500 of the 7000 Tuebrook homes. If you have not had a kit yet feel welcome to call into any of our three weekly advise centres

Warmest Regards
